The purpose of yoga is to build strength and achieve harmony in the body, mind, and spirit. Yoga helps employees awaken to their greatest potential as they replace familiar routines with deeper self-awareness. The techniques incorporated in yoga can increase mental clarity and focus, reduce chronic pain, lower blood pressure, and increase flexibility. Our classes include mixed-level instruction appropriate for everyone from beginners to seasoned practitioners.

Virtual classes are available anywhere live or on-demand. On-site classes are available in the Portland Metro area.

Yoga Basics

An introduction to yoga. Employees will learn basic yoga postures and fundamental alignment principles and connect with the breath.

Chair
Yoga

This gentle class features adapted yoga poses done seated and/or using a chair as a prop. Chair yoga can contribute to overall strength, balance, and flexibility, and is perfect for employees in home or corporate offices with limited space. Employees will come away feeling balanced and energized in body and mind.

Restorative
Yoga

Restorative Yoga is a gentle, patient and supportive practice that channels excess physical, mental and emotional energy through breath awareness and simple poses with prolonged holds to promote deep relaxation.

Hatha
Yoga

A slower-paced style of yoga that focuses on breath, posture, and alignment. Emphasizing long-held poses, hatha yoga classes will help employees to learn to balance strength and stability with flexibility in body and mind. This style of yoga is great for beginners as well as employees with some yoga experience.

Yin Yoga

Yin yoga is a passive yoga practice done mostly seated or lying down. A slow and quiet practice, yin provides an important balance to a fast-paced lifestyle. Deep stretching poses are held for 3-5 minutes at a time to target the deeper connective tissues of the body and increase range of motion and mobility. Employees will have the option to use household items as props to aid in their experience.

Accessible Yoga for Everyone

An all-levels active yoga class taught at a slow pace with lots of variations given so everyone can join. Employees may use household items as props that support their bodies as they move through stretching, strengthening, and relaxation. This class is typically chair-based, but may also be done without.

Yoga Nidra

An ancient meditation practice that uses a systematic body scan technique to activate the relaxation response for better sleep. Yoga Nidra has become increasingly popular in a variety of nontraditional settings, such as military bases and hospitals, and is recognized as an effective tool for emotional regulation and anxiety management. Endorsed a complementary alternative medicine (CAM) for chronic pain in 2010, it is an accessible practice that can be done either lying down or seated.

Slow Flow
Yoga

Slow Flow yoga takes a page from another popular yoga style called Vinyasa, which means in Sanskrit “to place in a special way”. Slow flow classes include a deliberate sequence of poses done at a sustainable pace so practitioners may achieve a continuous flow while still having space to focus on alignment. This style of yoga helps build strength and increase flexibility and overall endurance.

Liberate the Spine

Inspired by movements from the GYROTONIC ® method, Pilates, and yoga, this class focuses on spinal articulation and joint mobility specific paired with specific breath techniques that help to liberate the spine. These movements help to unblock stagnant areas and stimulate core activation, resulting in some much-needed length in the muscles and increased space between the vertebrae. Exercises will be done sitting on a stool or chair, standing up, and lying down.

Yoga Sculpt

Employees will get their sweat on with this Resistance + Yoga for an energizing total body workout to boost metabolism and build lean muscle mass. Move to upbeat tracks combining yoga with free weights, cardio sequencing, core work and strength training moves.

Yogalates

A combination of Yoga postures and Pilates core strengthening exercises, postural awareness and stabilization. Benefits include better flexibility, muscular strength, and relaxation.

Forrest Yoga

A modern yoga style created by Ana Forrest – an internationally-recognized pioneer in yoga and emotional healing. This Hatha-based practice builds strength and flexibility. Forrest Yoga integrates targeted breathwork, longer pose holds, and core strengthening to increase energy levels, healing and focus.

Yoga Workshops for Managing Stress & Tension

Managing your Health in Times of Stress

Learn simple breathing exercises, Yoga poses and relaxation techniques to tap into your parasympathetic nervous system and find peace and calm within. Employees will gain understanding of stressors and how they may negatively impact their health, while learning strategies to prevent potential stress impact on mind and body.

Release Low Back Tension and Pain

Employees will learn simple movements and release methods to maintain a healthy low back, as well as the functionality of the lumbar spine and how it relates to the adjacent spine segments and hips. This workshop enhances employees’ self-care “toolbox” with valuable strategies they can apply daily.

Release Tension in Neck, Shoulders and Arms

We carry tension in our neck and shoulders, especially during times of stress, which can lead to excruciating headaches, a tight jaw, and even numbness in the hands. Employees will learn about shoulder mechanics and gain valuable tools to release tension and create efficiency and balance in the shoulder girdle.

iHunch YOGA

This practice incorporates accessible yoga postures done in (and out of) chairs with an emphasis on breath awareness, core engagement, and the release tension from neck and shoulders without straining. Each session includes movement routines to help energize the mind and body and release stress for more effective functioning while working from home.

Breath by Breath

Often the simplest tools can be the most profound. Learning to pause, notice and breathe has proven time and again to be an essential tool to help us recognize and navigate what is happening in our body, heart, and mind. Employees will be guided through mindfulness meditation, various breathing practices, gentle mindful movement, and group interaction. Street clothes are fine, no experience required.

Yoga Nidra & Reiki

A deeply relaxing experience. Participants will lie comfortably on their backs as they are guided through an extended meditation meant to relax the brain from the inside out. During practice the instructor will be sending participants distance Reiki energy, which aids in relaxation and helps awaken the body and mind’s own capacity to heal.

Rest & Restore

This comforting restorative yoga practice pairs 40 minutes of restorative yoga with 20 minutes of guided meditation or yoga nidra. Employees will spend time in various relaxing shapes, supported by household items. It’s like adult nap time with intention. The class with a long savasana (period of rest) complete with guided relaxation and breathing.
